Barcelona trio will not make it in time for Real Madrid clash after all – report
Earlier today, it appeared that Barcelona had recovered almost all of their injured players in time for the Real Madrid clash as Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Raphinha all returned to team training.
During his press conference, Xavi did not give much away but appeared optimistic that there may be a chance that some if not all would be available for the game tomorrow.
And, while Raphinha and Lewandowski appear to have received the go-ahead for the first El Clasico of the season, the same might not hold true for the other three.
De Jong, Pedri, and Kounde out
Indeed, according to Javi Miguel of AS, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Jules Kounde are all effectively ruled out of Barcelona’s clash against Real Madrid tomorrow.
Of the three, De Jong appeared to have the most chances to make a comeback for tomorrow’s game.
However, the report states that the feelings surrounding the Netherlands international are not entirely positive and he is unlikely to make the squad list for tomorrow’s match.
Meanwhile, Kounde’s return was always seen as a long-shot and the fact that he was spotted in training today came as a surprise.
However, neither the Frenchman nor Pedri will be able to make it for tomorrow’s game and will focus on their recovery to be ready in the coming weeks.
The return of Raphinha and Lewandowski does, however, come as some positive news for Xavi & co., with the latter said to be in contention to even start the game.
