Manchester City now want to sign Noah Mbamba from Bayer Leverkusen – a player who has been compared to Vincent Kompany.
It was Football Transfers who revealed that Pep Guardiola wants the 18-year-old.

What’s the story?
Well, the Belgian is a huge prospect – to say the least.
Mbamba has already amassed three UEFA Champions League appearances – which all came for Club Brugge – with two of those coming against Manchester City.
Football Transfers believe Guardiola sat up and took notice of the teenager in this UEFA Champions League clash between Manchester City and Club Brugge, keeping an eye on his development ever since.
It was Football Talent Scout who compared the Bayer Leverkusen No.18 to Kompany.
The Manchester City legend actually started his career as a defensive midfielder in a No.6 role – which is where Mbamba currently plays – before dropping into the centre of defence.
Mbamba can also drop into a centre-back role, so the comparisons to Kompany make sense, along with the fact they are both Belgian.

Manchester City could kill two birds with one stone by signing Mbamba – given the fact he can play in midfield or in defence.
There are currently doubts over the future of Kalvin Phillips, who ESPN believe is considering his future after making just two Premier League starts for Manchester City in total.
There have also been rumours of Manchester City wanting to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton – as detailed by the Daily Mail – while Calciomercato believe the treble winners like Giorgio Scalvini of Atalanta too.
Both of those players are central defenders, so Guardiola could sign a replacement for Phillips as well as cover for the centre-back department with a move for Mbamba in 2024.
