Sir Jim Ratcliffe ripped into Man Utd chiefs over Erik ten Hag transfer during meeting
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already questionedManchester United chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough in person over the club's recruitment strategy, according to reports. The INEOSCEO is set to oversee a sporting shake-up at United once his £1.3billion deal for a 25 per cent stake goes through.

The Glazer family have agreed a deal in principle, which will be the subject of a vote among United's 12 board members in a meeting on Thursday.

Once ratified, Ratcliffe is expected to take total control of sporting decisions at the club within the next two months in the first significant ownership development since the Glazers' controversial 2005 takeover.

With the British billionaire expected to make new appointments in M16, Arnold and Murtough's futures have plunged into doubt.

And according to The Guardian, Ratcliffe was brutally honest with his criticism of the club's operations when he visited Old Trafford and Carrington for takeover talks in March.

The report claims Ratcliffe questioned United's transfer policy under the current regime, paying particular attention to Casemiro's £70m arrival from Real Madrid last summer.

Erik ten Hag recruited Casemiro as a late fallback option following his unsuccessful pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.

However, it represented a significant outlay for a player who turned 31 in February. He enjoyed a strong first season in England, but his form has fallen off a cliff this term, bringing the deal under scrutiny.

Ratcliffe is content with United's commercial operations but is concerned about the club's recent investment in the playing squad.

Arnold and Murtough were among the Red Devils figures in attendance when Ratcliffe and his INEOS representatives visited Manchester earlier in the year.

Casemiro, earning £350,000 a week on a four-year contract, was an example raised. But you would need more than two hands to count how often United have mishandled funds since Sir Alex Ferguson's 2013 retirement.

For many, United won't be successful again until the Glazers are removed from the club altogether.

But others are optimistic that a strong sporting structure - like Liverpool have demonstrated during Jurgen Klopp's golden era - could be the key to unlock vast improvement at Old Trafford.
