When Chelsea new stadium could be built after developments today – journalist

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea's new stadium could still be years away
He took to Twitter to state that it may be until 2030 until the Blues are playing football in their new home despite news today.
It has been reported today that the Blues have completed a deal to buy the land surrounding the current Stamford Bridge.
This has been something that owner Todd Boehlyhas been keen to make happen ever since he took over the club.
In the last 15 years or so, Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham have all seen glorious new stadiums open up, increasing their stock by some way.
With those three great examples just in the same city as Chelsea, catching up to those is a key step in their development.

Jacobs has claimed that despite the exciting development today, we are still some way away from the end goal.
He said: “Chelsea haven’t yet decided whether to build a new 55,000-seater stadium or redevelop Stamford Bridge, and fan consultations and talks with CPO will play a key role in how they progress. Board member Jonathan Goldstein is a key figure leading the project.
“Still understand staying at Stamford Bridge is the preference compared to Earls Court. Earls Court Development Company have previously “categorically denied” any talks with Chelsea.
'If Chelsea build a new stadium on the Stamford Bridge site it likely won’t be ready until 2030 and they would need a new home. Wembley and Twickenham are two options, but neither ideal from a location or logistical perspective.
“Still very early stages of consultation and planning, but I am told a clearer picture and roadmap may become apparent in 2024.”
It remains to be seen how this will go down with the more hardcore, match-going fans, who will be used to Stamford Bridge the way it is.
