4 Things Philippe Clement Need To Do To Get Rangers Back On Track

Philippe Clement has inherited a bit of a mess from Michael Beale after a summer Rangers squad rebuild didn’t go quite according to plan.
There is a solid core of players who can be relied upon but, as we have seen recently, there are several problems that need to be fixed.
Looking at the squad, this is where Philippe Clement has to address for Rangers to get us back on track.
Home grown players
This is the most obvious issue and one that has been covered to death.
It’s the reason why Philippe Clement had to change formation in just his second game in charge of Rangers.
The only problem is, there aren’t many decent home grown options available.
Wingers
Scott Wright has gone from being behind Fashion Sakala, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Ianis Hagi on a weekly basis to being involved one way or another.
That he was a signature on a contract away from leaving makes it all the more remarkable.
Philippe Clement needs more wide players for Rangers and they have to be of good quality.
Rabbi Matondo and Abdallah Sima can’t be our only two senior wingers if we are to win anything.
The striker issue
Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers were signed to bring goals and assists and, in nearly 40 games combined, they are yet to hit double figures.
If a decision is made that they aren’t good enough, then the quicker they are sold, the better – not that their form will make that easy.
Kemar Roofe’s continued issues with injuries also needs to be addressed.
Midfield imbalance
Specifically, the deep lying playmaker or defensive midfield role.
Steven Davis is no longer available, Glen Kamara has been sold, Ryan Jack can’t stay fit and John Lundstram can’t be expected to do it on his own.
Lundstram has been good since Philippe Clement took over Rangers but there needs to be a specialist for that position.
The scouser is a much better player when he has license to get forward and into the opposition box.
Hopefully, the new Gers boss has a list of players who could make an impact now, not ones that were good a few years ago who he will try to fix, and be given the funds to get them.
